Santa Clara Mandala

06.19 | SANTA CLARA COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS

To celebrate 75 years of the Santa Clara County Fair, 15 local artists were hired to paint the exterior wall of a large building on the fairgrounds. Each artist painted a different city in Santa Clara County. I painted Palo Alto and chose to illustrate a mandala of native flowers featuring the coastal redwood tree or “tall stick” which Palo Alto is named after. Featured here are yellow lupine, baby blue eyes, flax seed, Douglas Iris, sticky monkeyflower, matilja poppy and the seeds of the coastal redwood.
